It has been good visiting with Colin and Lisa , enjoying their home and company. In the morning before it got too hot ( this is a relative concept and we maybe left the starting point a little late) we drove out to visit a geological feature - a non-conformity in the rock sequence. This is to the east of Las Vegas in Frenchman mountain. The view was also good and helped me orient myself to the northern hemisphere. Somehow seems like a mental exercise - interesting how we use the sun unconsiously to get our bearings and now the sun is running across the sky to the south rather then the north.

The afternoon was spent chatting with Lisa and Colin and catching up with friends and business in cyberspace. As well Murray and Collin fixed our broken tent pole. I don't think I mentioned that yesterday when he went to move the tent Murray broke a section of the tent pole. However Colin and Lisa took us to a great hardware store Ace hardware and we were able to buy a length of brass tube. Murray and Collin cut a length of tube and slid it over the break to make a sleeve which was then glued in place. A successful repair.

In the evening we met with Lisa's folks and had a very nice meal at Souls2Soul. A very pleasent meal and great company. A good day that was rounded off by a browse in Barnes and Noble where I was able to purchase Bartholew and the Oobleck for Charles.

Hi ya, Macpac tents use a common tent pole called featherlite so If you come across an REI or similar you should be able to buy a replacement section for the pole. MSR backpacking tents use the same poles.
